• Temperature mid to high 80's; mostly sunny.

Special thanks to Sharon for pointing out many special observations.

These folks headed onto the trails
ten minutes before the SBFiN walk. 

    Note the stratification of colors.

 It's one of the jewel wings, genus Calopteryx and looks like maculata, female,

if maculata, the common name is Ebony Jewelwing.

Looks like woodland habitat which fits well. ~Don Miller

On our return trip along the trail, our photo friendly
Jewelwing shows its strength
by rolling up a leaf. Impressive!

Shagbark Hickory. Very nice specimen.
