Wednesday, May 27th,
from 6:30-9:00PM folks met at the Chamberlin School on White Street to talk
about the future of the Chamberlin Neighborhood. We shared our hopes and dreams
for our neighborhood and enjoyed a wonderful lasagna dinner.
Some of the messages I
heard were, reduce nonresidential traffic, improve access and safety for all
modes of transportation (auto, bike, pedestrian), build a more cohesive
community, add bike lanes, extend the bike path, maintain airport property as
natural green space, install airport noise mitigation, maintain existing
sidewalks, maintain district to help support home values, and keep the
community green (and I would add – clean of litter). We were told that from this input, concepts
would be developed and presented to the public in September.
Bernie publishes short stories and photos reflecting Vermont's values of Green and Clean and Community. He urges us all to pick up litter to protect our water, wildlife, and human health.
