Vermont backyard Flowers -May 2012. South Burlington, Vermont

May in our Vermont backyard, delivers lots of green, and lilacs, tulips, roses, birds...

The lawn looks like a forest of trees. Time to mow, however first I wish to watch the grass seed stalks sway in the breeze.

May 31, first Poppy bloom in our backyard.

Gray Catbird on the lookout for cats.

Yellow-Billed Cuckoo in our backyard Locust tree (May 30). The large white spots on its otherwise black undertail surface unfortunately do not show well in these photos. To see the tail features see photo on this site http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/yellow-billed_cuckoo/sounds

Remember nature's beauty shines greatest when we don't leave behind litter to spoil the view!

Just a short bike ride away was this reminder.

Gotta get back to work tending to the plants including the garden.

Need to grow lots of vegetables, so as to have enough for us after Mrs. rabbit has her fill.

  1. Bernie these are wonderful photos! I love the ferns and yellow iris images. We have catbirds and yellow-billed cuckoos here too although the latter are much scarcer and secretive. In my mind, Vermont has always seemed like an interesting and beautiful place that someday I hope to visit. The state is lucky to have an environmental champion like you. Keep up the good work!
