Wheeler Park Community Garden

The Growing Young Gardeners Club met for the thirteenth session at Wheeler Park on 1100 Dorset Street in South Burlington, Vermont on Sept. 12, 2015. Total donation so far this season: As of this session GYG's have donated 360 Lb.s of GYG grown vegetables to the food shelf.  


The Growing Young Gardeners Club is 
collaboration with the Machia Wilderness Camp
and the Burlington Garden Club.

South Burlington Community Flower Gardens - Canna South Pacific Flower

Wheeler Park Community Gardens

Master Gardener  Jan, received Canna South Pacific Scarlet F1 (Canna generalis) seeds from All American Selections . 

Jan started the plants indoors and transplanted them at the Wheeler gardens, assuming they would all produce red flowers. Surprised was she to find a few of them blossomed in a beautiful complementary yellow. 

See the Canna display below or visit the Wheeler gardens on Dorset St., South Burlington, VT. The park is open to the public for viewing, free of charge. 


The Canna display is one of many species of flowers on display along with the community vegetable gardens.
