Welcome to the SB Vermont Backyard Birding, Issue # 10, Northern Cardinal.

I must have bird fever, I am seeing all red. 

The Northern Cardinal male in our South Burlington, Vermont backyard, is bright red with black around its bill and even has a reddish bill. He certainly is dressed for Valentines Day. The female has a hint of red but more of a grayish brown, with an orange-reddish bill (to my eye). Welcome to the series, SB Vermont Backyard Birding, Issue #10, Northern Cardinal.
And as for Valentine's Day: Let a little bird tell you what your romantic future holds. 

                                                             This cracker is HEAVY.

                                                                 Pull! Pull!

                                                                                Come to mama. 

                                                       What? You think I can't do it?

                                                   
                                       Watch me. 

                          JR. get out here and shovel this walkway. 

                                        No, I am not related to the cockatiel. 

                                                           

                                              Check out my tail. 

                                                     And I can do the two-step. 

                                    A little blue to give your eyes a break.

That is my brother below - his name is Rouge, mine is Redder.

                                           Now can you tell us apart?

                                                                           

                                 Beam me up Scotty; its cold down here.

           Best seat in the house - and free sunflower seeds. 

                                Its all in how you hold your crests.

                       Van Halen isn't the only one who can jump.

                                                                   It is a jungle out there. 

                                                              I am not moving

                                                                     until the temperature

                                                                         moves up to at least 60.

Guess what our favorite color is. 

Valentine's Day is for the birds.
