Dandelions are good for you and your soil. Vermont

Celebrating dandelions- a childhood favorite chosen for its beauty, availability, fragrance, and seed blowing fun.

Dandelions are the most unappreciated flower among adults. Flowers, leaves, are healthy food; roots used to make a coffee like drink. Roots pull nutrients from deep down to upper soils.

Feed a child's soul - let the dandelions grow, and bloom, and go to seed.

Herbicides, and pesticides harm dandelions, wildlife, and children.

Instead, plant clover which pulls nitrogen from the air into the soil. And let the dandy Dandelions aid in breaking up the soil, pulling up nutrients, and bring smiles to children's faces.

Before you start mowing your lawn, consider the alternative of allowing at least a portion of your yard to become a mini-meadow. Remember how much fun you experienced as a child, exploring the tall grasses, watching the seed stalks sway in the breeze, picking wildflowers.

View the clever yellow flower that turns into a galaxy of silvery stars; a flower which every child loves - on my web site @http://litterwithastorytotell.blogspot.com/2014/05/flower-friend-to-every-child.html. ( or @ http://bit.ly/1pw9UYm ). See if the photos and captions don't convince you to sit back and watch the grass and flowers grow while the lawn mower takes a quiet snooze.
