Clean City: Time to Clean Up Our Commercial District. Litter

Will our City Center be Clean? What do we see today when we walk and when we shop in South Burlington? Review the photos below from 1068 to 1270 Williston road taken on February 16-18, 2012.  *Also see March post clean up updated pics.

These pictures indicate businesses have an opportunity to improve the shopping district landscape. Do we want Glitter or LITTER?

Tell them. When you shop ask for a business façade that is clean and green Year Round, including the parking area, sidewalk, green belt, and roadside frontage of their establishment. Love where you live.

Thank You to , The Gift Barn, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Northfield Savings Bank and others who clean up their lots a minimum of once per week.

Note: I did not pick up any of the litter in these Williston road photos. I do clean up littered trash in my neighborhood and do pick up the trash that I photograph for the Litter is a Sport anti-litter campaign.

March 21 update: Holiday Inn Guest Relations representative responded to my email concerning the litter nearby the Holiday Inn site in S.B. They addressed the concern with the appropriate parites. The Mar 21 picture below shows a much improved Holiday Inn welcome mat.

            Do not allow a FLOOD OF TRASH on your storefront or nearby view.

Provide trash and recycle containers for trash, use plant barrels for flowers.

Let's not quibble over boundary lines. Join your neighbor to clean you your combined business landscape.

                                                                             Make the invisible, visible.

A good fielder will not only catch the ball, but also pick it up and dispose of it.

March 22, 2012 update: City of South Burlington employees cleaned up the Interstate ramps green belt.                                                      Thank You S.B. Employees!

Why are we tolerant of littered trash in our community?

March 22, 2012 Update. The employees of the city of S.B. recently cleaned up the green belt around the interestate 89 ramps off Williston Road. Thank You SB employees.
